Why Sofouw

Made for marriage, not for swiping forever.

Khala gets to know you

A friendly chat, not a form: your deen, your family, your Saturdays. Remove anything she remembers, anytime.

One introduction every morning

With Premium, Khala picks the one person who fits you best each morning after Fajr, and tells you why.

Everyone who fits, in one place

Marriage shows everyone who fits what you’re looking for, and whose own preferences you fit, best matches first.

Photos stay private

Blurred until you both say yes, unless you choose otherwise. You decide who sees what.

Your wali, welcome

Invite your wali to follow your chats, or simply to know who you’re talking to. With Premium, Khala also sends them a weekly summary.

Respectful by design

No swapping numbers in chat: the way forward is through your families. Every report is reviewed by our team.

Questions

Questions people ask about Sofouw

What is Sofouw?

Sofouw is a Muslim marriage app with an AI matchmaker called Khala. She gets to know you in a short chat, then helps you meet people who share your values and want marriage. Sofouw is in English and Arabic, on Android and in any web browser at app.sofouw.com, with iOS coming soon.

What does the name Sofouw mean?

Sofouw comes from the Arabic word صفو: purity, clarity and the best of something. It’s what we hope every introduction feels like.

Who is Khala?

Khala is Sofouw’s AI matchmaker, like a caring auntie who actually listens. She asks about your deen, your family and your lifestyle, explains why she thinks someone fits, and lets you see and remove anything she remembers about you.

How does Khala choose who to introduce?

Khala only introduces people who fit both ways: they match what you’re looking for, and you match what they’re looking for, such as age, distance, sect, prayer and nikah timeline. From those, she favours the people closest to you in intentions, family involvement, nationality, how you spend your weekends and distance, and who are active. The choice follows these rules; the AI writes her explanation of why. If you allow it, she may suggest someone just outside your age or distance range, and she asks you first.

Is Sofouw free?

Joining is free, and so is browsing everyone who fits in Marriage, with 10 likes a day and 2 photos, matching, chatting and Community. Sofouw Premium adds Khala’s introduction every morning, chatting with Khala, her take on anyone, 50 likes a day, 4 photos, seeing who liked or visited your profile, and Profile tips: why people say yes or pass, and which of your photos works best.

Can I use Sofouw on a computer?

Yes. Open app.sofouw.com in any browser on a computer, tablet or phone and sign in with your mobile number. It’s the same account as the Android app, with the same matches, chats and Premium.

What is Sofouw Community?

Community is where members ask questions and share advice about preparing for marriage, family, deen and life after the nikah. You post anonymously, shown only as “a sister” or “a brother” with an age range and country, or under your first name. There are no photos, profiles or private messages, everything is checked before it appears, and members vote up what helps. Khala asks a question every day and sums up the busy threads. Community is on the web now, and coming soon to the Android app.

Are my photos private?

Yes. Your photos stay blurred until you and the other person both say yes. You can choose to show them to people you like, or to everyone, instead. Every photo is checked before anyone sees it, and clear photos carry a hidden code identifying who they were shown to, so a shared copy can be traced.

Can my wali be involved?

Yes. Invite your wali, or another relative you trust, and they get a private link, with no app to install. You choose what they see: your chats in full, or just who you’re talking to. They can approve before your photos are revealed to a match, and everyone in the chat is told a wali is there. With Premium, Khala can also send your wali a weekly summary instead of the full chats, and answer their questions about your matches. With full chats, you can also let your wali write in your chats, signed with their name, so the two families can talk. Their page updates as things happen, can send them alerts, and they’re welcome in Community too.

Who can join Sofouw?

Muslims aged 18 or over who are looking for marriage. Sofouw introduces men to women only. You can look for Sunni, Shia or “just Muslim”, alongside age, distance, prayer, marriage timeline and more.

Is Sofouw on iPhone?

The iPhone app is coming soon. Until then, you can use Sofouw in Safari or any browser at app.sofouw.com, with the same account as on Android.

How does Sofouw keep me safe?

There are no adverts and your data is never sold. Phone numbers and links can’t be shared in chats, so the way forward is through your families. You can hide from people in your contacts, go incognito, block or report anyone, and delete your account at any time.

Your nasib could be one yes away.

Joining, browsing and Community are free. Premium adds Khala’s daily introduction, her take on anyone, and 50 likes a day.
